What Lead Me to Feltmaking

Felt Wallhanging

Before I took up feltmaking, I worked for a few years making quilts and appliqués . While making appliqués from cotton fabric, I ventured into using synthetic felt for the ease of cutting the shapes and sewing them.  I then began learning about real felt–I mean material made from wool.  And thought I’d try my hand at it, which I talked about and showed photos of in my previous post.

Here are photos of some of the synthetic felt  appliqués that I’ve made.

I have made visual art works all my life. Arts of May shows some of my explorations in different media and the inspiration I take from other artists and works. An earlier blog, of humans and nature, concentrates on my photographs of natural places that help my spirit.
